Very happy to see a English Forum. I have been watching, but it is hard to get involved when you don't know German. Let me introduce myself. I have been involved from the very beginning with "Linux on the RCA RM4100". Which you may or may not know is the American version of the Thomson IP1000. I am also a coreboot developer and have developed a new Bios for the RCA RM4100. My next coreboot project is going to be the RCA Akimbo IP1150 which I think is the American version of the Thomson IP1100. I may call on you guys for some help, I hope you don't mind. It helps to already have Linux running on a box for coreboot development. So is there anyway someone could translate directions on how to get a full Linux distro onto this box in English? As far as I know the problem was the lack of Coreboot support for the northbridge of the IP1101. Do you plan to support it ?

We (ex-Thomson staff) found another way : we plan to port the Intel Bios which has been developped to support this board from the start. The Intel Bios is able to call a bootloader (Grub for example) directly onthe CF card (or any IDE device on IDE1 bus). It is able to boot from the ethernet interface also. Should be straightforward.

US version of the IP1101 is not exactly the same board as it is equiped with HD video and HDMI output.

We should be able to compile it in the next few days and burn a couple of flash with it.

We will keep you informed of our progress.

I still plan to get you all the complete schematics of the board...but lack of free time ;-)

I wrote the northbridge code for the i830M from scratch, and yes I plan on writing code for the i854 from scratch. I think I will be able to use the code from i830M as a base, the major difference is the memory. One is PC133 and the other is DDR. Please keep me informed of your progress. Which intel Bios are you using? The Intel AppliedComputing System FirmwareLibrary?? Do you have the source? I would be very interested in looking at it.

coreboot can boot to all of those things and more.........you can even set it up to boot straight to the kernel with no bootloader (very fast, great for a set-top-box) :mrgreen:

as far as i can see the IP1101 and IP1150 are nearly identical.
Is there anything new to coreboot support for these devices?
